The Maxxis Assegai cover is named after the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. Greg Minnaar, a three-time Downhill World Champion and a native of South Africa, thought it was a fitting name for a tire ready to fight on the mountain. Tall caps attack dust and dirt to find traction, but also offer support and safety on wet roots and rocks. While other tires only excel in certain conditions, the new Assegai is built to go fast everywhere.
