Hybrid Philosophy, Performance Wilier Triestina
\n
It is hard to believe that this bike hides within it a system that electrifies its pedaling.
Yet, it does. Filante Hybrid is an electric racing bike that integrates the world’s lightest assistance system: the new X20 motor from Mahle, a German multinational company that is driving technological innovation toward zero-impact mobility.Filante Hybrid was born with a very specific goal: to make you go faster while minimizing stress. The combination of the new Mahle X20 system with all our knowledge in terms of aerodynamic efficiency and use of composite materials has enabled us to raise the bar even higher for the Cento10 Hybrid, a product that has collected major international awards in past seasons. An overall improvement in terms of energy savings of nearly 8 percent. Better battery management, more integration and thus better aerodynamics, lighter weight, better performance.
\n
CUTTING-EDGE CHASSIS
\n
Filante Hybrid definitely resembles Filante SLR, the bike used by Astana pros. There are no holes in the frame (except for the one needed to charge the battery), an integrated carbon monocoque curve that houses the control cables and electrical system controls inside. The seatpost is the same as on Filante SLR, aerodynamic and carbon.
\n
INTEGRATED BATTERY AND RANGE
\n
The battery integrated into the down tube has a capacity of 250 Wh, and can be extended by an additional water-bottle shaped battery that is housed on the seat tube bottle cage, adding another 185 Wh to the system. As with the previous version, there is a system of software and apps available at both the user and dealer level to manage, monitor and set up the system.
\n
NEW POWER SENSOR
\n
A new bottom bracket with a torque (power) and cadence sensor has been introduced to improve the riding experience. Using a cadence and power sensor makes the user (or rather his pedaling-the power he delivers) talk to the motor. This “pedaling reading” allows the system to modulate assistance delivery as best it can in order to give the rider a natural pedaling feel, preventing jerks, sudden acceleration or loss of assistance. For example, even on challenging inclines over 10 percent, the motor will continue to deliver power smoothly. All this is necessary to move more and more toward a riding experience similar to that experienced on a conventional type of bicycle.
\n
The power sensor (combined with the new firmware) also makes it possible to optimize battery consumption, since power delivery is much more sensitive and proportionate to the power delivered by the rider.
\n
NEW MINIATURIZED MOTOR
\n
The X20 motor is truly miniaturized: it is very light (the complete system goes from the 3.6 kg of X35 to the 3.3 kg of X20), with a modern straight pull, 24-spoke spoking, perfectly matched to the Wilier Triestina carbon rims. The new Mahle X20 hub-motor delivers 60 Nm of torque, but it has another important new feature. The body is easily detachable from the motor body for easy maintenance, but also for possible replacement. Compatible Shimano, Sram XDR and Campagnolo bodies will be produced.
\n
PULSAR ONE AS STANDARD
\n
Filante Hybrid equips as standard Pulsar One, a compact and handy on-board computer that, thanks to a 2.1-inch display, allows you to be updated in real time on electrical system data and travel statistics and-if necessary-change the level of pedaling assistance. Pulsar One connects with ANT+ protocol to the X20 system and also to other sensors (pedometer, external power sensor and heart rate monitor) whose data can be viewed directly on the display for a more in-depth experience.
\n
REAR THRU-AXLE
\n
There is one very important detail that makes Filante Hybrid a first in its class: the wheel that houses the new Mahle X20 motor can be quickly mounted and dismounted, just as on a conventional through-bolt road bike. In addition to the ease and speed of mounting/removing the wheel, the system provides an automatic connection to the battery. There will be no more cables to connect or disconnect by hand; everything is done with the simple wheel housing. How? Simple: the left rear dropout has a slide with a built-in electrical connector that forces the hub to position itself to make contact with the battery. Quick and with no possibility of mistaken engagement.
\n
TOTAL INTEGRATION
\n
The handlebar is carbon monocoque integrated and echoes the aerodynamic design of Filante Bar, but the hybrid version integrates into the stem the new iWoc button and display, the interface needed to turn on the system and change the pedaling assistance mode. The fold with this particular “design” allows selection of the 4 motor levels (automatic, eco, sport and boost) without removing the hands from the top of the handlebar-a special focus on cyclist safety. Compared to the previous version of iWoc, Mahle has improved the ergonomics and also the ease of use for reading data: at a glance, you can tell how much capacity is left in the battery and which assistance mode is selected.
\n
CLEARANCE & GEOMETRIES
\n
Tire clearance is adequate for a modern road bike and supports rims with tires up to 32 mm wide installed. The geometry measurements of Filante Hybrid follow those of our endurance models. So don’t expect aggressive geometry, although the look of the bike can be deceiving: relaxed geometry, with an important stack and a contained reach. 6 sizes available, from XS to XXL.
