Filante SLR: The Evolution of the High-End Aerodynamic Bike

The Filante SLR represents the natural evolution of our high-end aerodynamic product, used by professionals. This aero bike is extremely lightweight and significantly improves the stiffness to weight ratio. We have employed the same materials and technologies used in the construction of the Wilier 0 SLR, resulting in a high-quality aerodynamic frame that complements our climbing bike, currently in use by Astana Pro Team.

Optimized Aerodynamics

\n

The Filante SLR has been designed to maximize aerodynamic performance in real-world conditions. Our research is based on data collected in wind tunnels, where airflow is controlled to ensure homogeneous empirical results, but we also take into account real-world conditions. This way, we do not limit ourselves to considering only typical wind tunnel data (yaw angles from -20 to +20), but also include environmental turbulence that can affect the bike. Highlights include:

• Soften angles for better performance even in disturbed airflow.

• Widened front fork by 7mm, with a 13.6% increase compared to the Cento10PRO fork, to reduce turbulence.

Lightness and Reactivity

\n

The new aerodynamically optimized profiles have allowed us to further reduce the weight of the frame. The shape without sharp edges requires less material and resin, ensuring a more homogeneous interior and a frame weight of only 870 grams. The assembled bike with top-of-the-line specifications weighs 6.8 KG. The carbon used for the Filante monocoque is the same as that of the Wilier 0 SLR, and thanks to various types of carbon, Liquid Crystal Polymer, and strategic fiber placement, we have achieved an unprecedented level of lightness and rigidity. This has led to a 12.5% increase in stiffness to weight, improving steering precision and the feeling of safety at high speeds.

Integrated Handlebars and Cables

\n

The new integrated Filante Bar, made from monocoque carbon, weighs only 350 grams for size 101×42 and houses the brake and control cables internally, directing them within the frame. The essential design, with smooth and rounded lines, ensures maximum ergonomics in the grip.

Easy-Fit Spacers

\n

The spacers placed between the frame’s head tube and the handlebars are made from high-rigidity composite material and feature a cavity dedicated to cable routing. Composed of two parts, they allow for quick assembly and disassembly without interfering with the cables running between the handlebars and the frame.

Speed Release Thru Axles

\n

These axles allow for quick removal of the wheel from the frame without the need to completely extract the axle from the wheel hub. This solution significantly reduces wheel removal and installation times, allowing for a wheel change that, in a race, can save an average of 7 seconds compared to a traditional thru axle.
