The Maxxis Assegai cover gets its name from the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. Greg Minnaar, a three-time Downhill World Champion and originally from South Africa, thought it was an appropriate name for a tire that was ready to fight on the mountain. The tall lugs raid dust and loam to find traction, but also offer support and confidence on wet roots and rocks. While other tires only excel in certain conditions, the new Assegai is built to go fast anywhere.
